Files and transfers
Move files between your computer and your servers over SFTP, FTPS or FTP: two panes, drag and drop, and a queue you can pause and resume.
Where: HF Connect › Files
Click Files beside a host in Hosts, or type a saved host's name or an address such as
sftp://deploy@203.0.113.10/var/www, ftp://shop@ftp.example.com or ftps://shop@ftp.example.com in Quick
connect at the top and click Connect (an address not saved yet is saved as a new host; a password in it is used
once, never saved). This computer is on the left, the server on the right.
Open terminal here (SFTP servers) opens a terminal on the same server, in the folder shown.
- Drag files or folders from one side to the other, or select them and click Upload → or ← Download; double-click a file to send it to the other side. Folders are copied whole.
- New folder, Rename, Delete and, for SFTP, Permissions (for example
644or755) work on each side. - Cut (Ctrl+X, ⌘X on a Mac) and paste on the other side moves: the files are uploaded or downloaded through the queue, and the originals are deleted once every one of them has arrived. If one fails or is cancelled, all the originals stay and HF Connect says so.
- Rows dragged onto a folder on the same side move there (hold Ctrl or Alt to copy). A copy on the server goes through the queue with its progress; a move to another drive on this computer copies, then deletes the original.
- Files dragged in from your computer upload to the server pane or are copied into this computer's folder. In the
window that opens in your browser (macOS,
--browseron Linux) drop files, not folders.
Keyboard and mouse
Both panes work like the web Files app: click, Ctrl-click and Shift-click select; the arrows, Home, End, Page Up / Page Down move; Enter or a double-click opens a folder (a file goes to the other side); Backspace goes up; F2 renames; Delete deletes (after asking); F5 refreshes; Ctrl+Shift+N makes a folder; Ctrl+C / X / V copy, cut and paste. Right-click (or Shift+F10) shows every action, and ? lists the shortcuts.
The queue
Transfers wait in the queue and run a few at a time (At once), each over a connection of its own, so you can keep browsing while they move and they go on after you click Disconnect. Pause stops a transfer where it is and Resume continues from there, without starting again; Retry starts a failed one again; Speed limit (KB/s) keeps transfers from filling your connection. Clear finished tidies the list.
Plain FTP sends your password readable on the network: use SFTP or FTPS when the server offers them.
