Namecheap
Install HF Panel on a Namecheap VPS: the system to choose, ports, port 25, reverse DNS in the VPS panel, DNS records and the install.
Install HF Panel on a Namecheap VPS.
Read Choose a VPS and prepare it first: it explains each step in full. Below is what is specific to Namecheap. Providers change their menus from time to time; where a step is described in general terms, look for it in the VPS dashboard or ask the provider's support.
1. Choose the VPS and the system
Order an unmanaged VPS (not a managed plan with a control panel included). Namecheap's VPS is managed through a VPS control panel (SolusVM). In it, use Reinstall to choose a plain Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12 or AlmaLinux 9 image. Do not choose an image with a control panel. Reinstalling erases the VPS. The server's IP address and root details are in your Namecheap account and the VPS panel.
2. Open the ports
If your Namecheap VPS shows a firewall in the VPS panel or your account, allow the ports in Choose a VPS and prepare it: 22, 80, 443, 8443, 25, 465, 587, 993, and 53 if you run your own nameservers. If there is none, the server's own firewall (which the installer sets up) is the only one.
3. Port 25 and reverse DNS
Run the check. If it reports outgoing port 25 as blocked, open a ticket with Namecheap support and ask them to unblock outbound port 25 for the VPS. The reverse DNS (PTR) is set in the VPS panel: open the Network tab, click Edit in the Reverse DNS column, enter mail.yourdomain.com and save. It can take up to an hour to show.
4. Point your domain at the server
If the domain is at Namecheap, open it in your account, go to Domain List › Manage › Advanced DNS and add the records from DNS setup: A records with the server's IP for @ and mail, and CNAME records to your domain for cp, srv, rs, fm, dbs, cld, dep, api, smtp, imap and ftp (or import the Download DNS file from the installer's DNS step), and make sure the domain uses Namecheap BasicDNS. To use your own nameservers, register ns1 and ns2 as personal (child) nameservers for the domain in its Advanced DNS settings, then set the domain's nameservers to them (Custom DNS).
Check, then install
Sign in as root, then run the check and the installer with the command from your licence page:
cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://cdn.hostfog.com/latest && bash latest --check
cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://cdn.hostfog.com/latest/licence/YOUR-KEY && bash latest
Then carry on with After installation.
