GoDaddy
Install HF Panel on a GoDaddy VPS: the plan and system to choose, the ports, port 25, reverse DNS, DNS records and the install.
Install HF Panel on a GoDaddy VPS.
Read Choose a VPS and prepare it first: it explains each step in full. Below is what is specific to GoDaddy. Providers change their menus from time to time; where a step is described in general terms, look for it in the VPS dashboard or ask the provider's support.
1. Choose the VPS and the system
Order a VPS with root access. When you set it up, choose a plain operating system: Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12, or Rocky Linux or AlmaLinux 9. Do not choose an image that comes with a control panel preinstalled. If the VPS already has one, reinstall it with the plain image from the VPS settings in your GoDaddy account. Note the server's IP address and sign in over SSH as root, or as the user GoDaddy gives you, then run sudo -i.
2. Open the ports
In your GoDaddy account, open the VPS and look for its firewall or security settings. If it has one, allow the ports in Choose a VPS and prepare it: 22, 80, 443, 8443, 25, 465, 587, 993, and 53 if you run your own nameservers. If you can't find a firewall setting, the check below tells you which ports answer from outside; ask GoDaddy support if one stays closed.
3. Port 25 and reverse DNS
Run the check. If it says outgoing port 25 is blocked, contact GoDaddy support and ask them to allow outbound port 25 for the server. Ask them in the same request to set the reverse DNS (PTR) of the server's IP to mail.yourdomain.com, unless you find the setting in the VPS dashboard.
4. Point your domain at the server
If your domain is registered at GoDaddy, open the domain's DNS page in your GoDaddy account and add the records from DNS setup: A records with the server's IP for @ and mail, and CNAME records to your domain for cp, srv, rs, fm, dbs, cld, dep, api, smtp, imap and ftp (or import the Download DNS file from the installer's DNS step). To use your own nameservers instead, add ns1 and ns2 as child nameserver (host) records for the domain at GoDaddy, then change the domain's nameservers to them.
Check, then install
Sign in as root, then run the check and the installer with the command from your licence page:
cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://cdn.hostfog.com/latest && bash latest --check
cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://cdn.hostfog.com/latest/licence/YOUR-KEY && bash latest
Then carry on with After installation.
