Port forwarding
Reach a server’s private ports from your computer, share a local port with the server, or browse through the server with a SOCKS proxy.
Where: HF Connect › Port forwarding (with a terminal open)
| Kind | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Local | A port on this computer reaches a port the server can see | Listen 5433, to 10.0.0.12:5432: a private database on your computer |
| Remote | A port on the server reaches a port this computer can see | Listen 8080 on the server, to 127.0.0.1:3000 on your computer |
| SOCKS proxy | Your browser or tools go out through the server | Listen 1080, then set 127.0.0.1:1080 as the SOCKS5 proxy |
A port alone listens on this computer only (127.0.0.1). Forwarding stops when its connection closes; the list shows
how many connections go through each one.
